Over the weekend, my wife surprised me with a backyard pitmaster class with Brisket U. These classes are all taught by certified KCBS judges and pitmasters, who are often members of competitive barbecue teams! At the end of the 3 hour class, you will have all of the knowledge you need to smoke the perfect brisket in your backyard.
The classes are typically taught at a local brewery. This is awesome for two reasons. First, there’s beer. I don’t have to explain why that’s good, or why beer goes with brisket so well. Oh yeah, and the first beer is part of your registration fee. Second you’ll be supporting a local business. Local businesses are heartbeat of America and we have to do whatever we can to support them. Actually, you’re supporting two small businesses here, Brisket U and the local brewery.
Throughout the class, you’ll get to sample some barbecue, learn about trimming a brisket, and learn different spice rubs and smoking techniques.
As much as I’d like to give you some pointers here, I don’t think the folks at Brisket U would appreciate it! You’ll just have to find a class near you!
